Optus joins internet filter trial

Australia’s second largest internet service provider, Optus, has agreed to take part in the Federal Government’s internet filtering trial.

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy says eight companies are participating in the Government program to block websites such as those that show child pornography.

Last month, the internet provider iiNet pulled out of negotiations with the Government over the proposed trial, likening it to a form of censorship.
